Episode 05: Depictions of 1960s Youth Culture

This week Jonathan, Andrew and Steve discuss and have fun with depictions of 1960s youth culture on television including clips from The Monkees, Dragnet, and Star Trek: the Original Series. The trio also discuss growing up as a re-runs generation in the 1980s depicting culture from twenty years prior. Also the tension between depicting social change that had very real stakes in a muted, rounded-off sharp edges, Hollywood style. So, decide which Monkee is your favorite; brace yourself for a Joe Friday lecture, and get out your Vulcan lute, because it’s time for some Spock Rock!
